Job summary

Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, HMP Brixton – a Category B male prison since April 2025 – offers an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic/Nurse to join our Primary Care team. Patients’ needs will vary greatly, with a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.

Hours

37.5 hours a week (3 long days a week).

Salary

£28.12 an hour

Main duties of the job
  • Provide evidence‑based care, listening to and acting on patient feedback, focusing on emergency and unplanned care for both primary and acute care needs.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients’ care following policies, procedures and safeguarding considerations.
