Qualifications

Job description

The Paralegal Analyst role, sitting with the Legal and Transaction Management Team, will have experience of banking and finance transactions and will work on a wide range of finance transactions, working directly with customers, managing lawyers, CPs and reviewing finance documents to deliver streamlined service for clients.

Responsibilities
  • Support senior members of the legal team – work with senior members of the legal team to execute transactions with speed and diligence by assisting with OakNorth’s CRM platform (nCino / Digital Lending), managing internal CPs and working with Debt Finance support to satisfy credit conditions.
  • Review finance documents – review and provide comments on Term Sheets, Loan Agreements and security documents, whilst under the supervision of senior members of the team.
  • Work with other departments – work with the Credit team to ensure credit sanctions are satisfied and the Operations team to ensure loans are booked correctly.
  • Drafting amendment letters draft amendment letters for review by senior members of the team.
  • Review insurance policies – review and summarise insurance policies to ensure they comply with OakNorth’s insurance standards.
  • Manage and lead all aspects of transactions – work directly with clients and external lawyers and the Debt Finance team to ensure that all conditions are satisfied, and all aspects of transactions are moving with momentum.
  • Assist in the review of HoTs – work with Debt Finance directors on producing an initial term sheet/providing indicative terms by reviewing these alongside the conditions of sanction.
  • Administration Tasks – obtain legal quotes, arrange team training events and arrange the signing of documents.
  • Close Deals – work on pre-drawdown amendments, satisfy CPs needed to close deals and push deals to sign and fund.
  • Liaise with the Portfolio Management team to facilitate drawdowns – work with the portfolio management team and the client to ensure the drawdown process occurs smoothly.
  • nCino / Digital Lending Updates – update loan walls daily.
  • AI Usage & Projects – assist the wider legal team on special projects to drive continued process improvement and help to embed the use of AI tools into existing tasks.
  • Ad hoc Tasks – step up when impromptu tasks arise. Examples include reviewing and summarising key legal and market developments, work on key precedent documentation and enhancing internal processes.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years’ Paralegal experience in banking and finance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a rapidly changing, demanding, but ultimately rewarding environment.
  • Drive to achieve a common goal (lend money, help businesses, and earn interest/fees!).
