Job summary

A local authority in the UK is seeking a motivated paralegal to join its dynamic in-house legal team. The role involves supporting lawyers, managing busy workloads, and assisting with information governance functions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and an interest in FOI and data protection. With hybrid working arrangements, you are expected in the office at least once a week. An Enhanced DBS check is required for the successful candidate.

Job description

Thanet is looking for a paralegal to join its busy and dynamic in‑house legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a positive and diverse legal team.

We are looking for a candidate who is motivated, interested, positive, enthusiastic and has some understanding and/or experience of working within the legal sector and ideally within a local authority. You will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to manage a busy work loads supporting lawyers across the department. A significant part of your role will be to support the Council’s information governance functions and an interest in FOI and data protection would also be an advantage. You must be adaptable, flexible and able to prioritise tasks on a daily basis. Working arrangements are hybrid but you will be expected to be in the office a minimum of one day each week.

Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre‑employment checks.
