We are looking for a well-organised, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our team. Ward 24 is a dynamic, fast paced unit consisting of 29 Inpatient beds and 8 Paediatric Assessment beds. Within the ward footprint is an established High Dependancy Unit which has recently been given Level 2 status.

The role of Band 6 sister requires a pro active, forward thinking nurse. The successful candidate will help further develop the team, whilst delivering exceptional levels of care and family support.

You will require excellent organisational, communication and team working and the ability to support and deliver paediatric care with effective leadership and management skills. As well as supporting the junior nursing and clinical team, you will be expected to support and share the vision of the Senior Nursing team.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Paediatric Ward team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, family-centred care to children and young people with a broad spectrum of medical and surgical conditions. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in collaboration with children, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Your duties will include the safe administration of medications, monitoring and responding to changes in clinical condition, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to discharge planning. You will support children and their families during potentially stressful times, offering reassurance, education, and emotional support.

Working within an integrated children's service, you will liaise with various health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care and a holistic approach to treatment. You will participate in safeguarding processes, attend relevant meetings, and follow up on concerns appropriately.

You will also be expected to contribute to service improvement initiatives, uphold infection control standards, and promote a positive and inclusive environment. The role includes opportunities for personal development through regular supervision, training, and involvement in clinical audits or projects.
