Befriender role for a 10-year-old child with special needs (Down Syndrome). To help him access the community.

  • Encourage social companionship and friendship through play, conversation and shared activities.
  • Encourage social and communication skills in a fun, supportive and age-appropriate way; ensure safety and wellbeing at all times; commit to regular contact to provide stability and consistency for the child.
  • Be kind, patient and caring; able to build a warm, trusting relationship with my son.
  • Enjoy spending time with children and engaging in fun, creative and age-appropriate activities.
Training

No formal qualifications required. The right attitude and qualities are most important.

  • Hourly Rate: £12.21
  • Hours Per Week: 4 hours term-time / 16 hours in school holidays
  • How the hours will be used: Saturday every week; During the school holidays - four hours in four days.
