PA/Carer needed for joyful 9 yr. old, non mobile/speaking boy with support accessing community (Eccles) SH-SC-001
Job Description
The role involves taking him out into the community to enjoy time away from home, build confidence, and connect with carers outside of immediate family.
Activities he enjoys include:
- Walks in parks (accessible swings are a big bonus!)
- Trips to the farm
- Feeding the ducks
- Swimming
- Gentle outdoor exploring
Your role is to provide safe, supportive, 1:1 care while helping him experience independence and joy beyond the home environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Feeding: prescribed liquid feeds approximately every 4 hours
- Assisting with soft food meals
- Full personal care, including nappy changes
- Monitoring breathing and responding appropriately
- Seizure awareness and support, including administering Buccolam Midazolam if required
- Ensuring he is kept warm outdoors, as he cannot regulate temperature independently
- Providing constant 1:1 supervision
- Building rapport and getting to know his unique communication cues
Specific Requirements
- Kind, empathetic, patient, and naturally caring
- Understanding of complex needs and willing to learn his routines and ways of communicating
- Calm and confident during medical or behavioural challenges
- Enjoys working with children who have Specialist Educational Needs
- Able to bring positivity and stability to his time in the community
Required Training
- Buccolam Midazolam training
- Experience working with individuals with Specialist Educational Needs
- Full enhanced DBS
- References appreciated

About Me
A joyful 9-year-old boy with a complex medical background including a rare genetic epilepsy condition similar to Rett Syndrome. He is non-speaking and non-mobile, requiring full support for all aspects of his care.
He:
- Requires full assistance with feeding (liquids and soft foods only)
- Requires full personal care
- Experiences anxiety and episodes of disordered breathing (lips may change colour)
- Has Focal Epilepsy and associated seizures
- Uses a wheelchair full time
- Can stand only with full adult support
Despite his challenges, he has a wonderful, infectious smile and enjoys spending time in the community.
