Job description
Overview

Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd is seeking a highly motivated professional to support overhead lines (OHL) and associated civil works projects. The role involves supervising key construction packages, coordinating engineering support, procurement of construction materials and specialist subcontracts, and leading core delivery teams to ensure successful project delivery. You will work with the Site Manager and Project Manager to ensure on-site technical solutions align with Engineering requirements and management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and deliver key packages of construction projects
  • Assist in the production of construction plans, coordinate the Engineering support team, procure construction materials and specialist subcontracts, and manage related activities necessary for successful project delivery
  • Support the Site Manager & Project Manager and lead core delivery teams
  • Ensure technical solutions delivered on site are in line with Engineering\'s requirements and management systems
  • Manage and coordinate all street works permits in line with required dates
  • Manage the customer relationship during tender and delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations
  • Lead Safety Shield initiatives and drive continuous improvement across SHESQ within projects
  • Cooperate in all health and safety matters to enable the company to conduct and enhance its legal duties and requirements
Experience and Qualifications
  • Previous experience of managing sites and field-based staff on overhead lines (OHL) projects and associated civil works
  • Technical expertise of OHL installation methods and all safety aspects including safety from the system
  • Previous working knowledge of distribution network operators is essential
  • Demonstrated interest in developing skills in overhead lines and progression within the Transmission and Distribution sector
  • Minimum qualification to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma/apprenticeship) or equivalent
  • Ability to deliver works in line with project schedules, including resource and material forecasting
  • Experience managing subcontractors and recording measurement details for financial settlement
  • Experience supervising Engineering Support teams through all phases of design, construction, commissioning & close out
  • Experience coordinating and controlling team delivery in accordance with cost, schedule & change while upholding SHEQ standards
  • Good knowledge of street works and Local Authorities permit requirements
  • Accredited Safety Training, Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) as a minimum
  • Recognised training for Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Recognised safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
  • Understanding of NEC3 Form of Contract
  • Knowledge of New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification
  • Familiarity with SSE System Authorisations
