Job description
Overview

Orthotist opening at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts. This is a full-time, permanent clinical role in the in-house Orthotics department, treating both inpatients and outpatients across a variety of clinics. Closing date: 29 September 2025.

Job responsibilities

The Orthotics Department is based within an acute Trust that includes a Major Trauma Centre and a Spinal Injuries Unit, offering exposure to a diverse and often complex patient population. The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver care across a range of outpatient clinics, with adequate time allocated for assessments.
  • Provide dedicated support for inpatient services on the wards.
  • Work closely within multidisciplinary teams, participating in joint clinics such as:
  • Diabetic Foot
  • Neurology
  • Paediatrics
  • Complex Footwear
  • Spinal

The department benefits from an on-site, fully equipped workshop staffed by six technicians, ensuring excellent support for clinical staff. All Orthotists participate in weekly in-service training, have protected CPD time, and are encouraged to contribute to service development within both the department and the wider therapies and rehabilitation pathways.

Team and facilities

You will join a supportive team comprising:

  • 10 Orthotists
  • 2 Orthotic Assistants
  • 6 Technicians
  • 6 Administrative Staff

Facilities include an on-site workshop with CAD-CAM technology, including a Rodin scanner, iPad scanner, and milling machine. Clinical work will be primarily based at the Queens Medical Centre in a newly built, custom-designed department, and at the City Hospital Campus; some work within the National Rehab Centre and community work may be required.
