Location: Banbury

Salary: £29,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience

Our client, a leading ecological consultancy, is seeking a passionate and experienced Ornithologist to join their team in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high‑quality ecological surveys and projects across a variety of habitats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting bird surveys and monitoring, including breeding, wintering, and migratory species.
  • Preparing detailed survey reports and providing expert advice to support planning and development projects.
  • Contributing to ecological assessments, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Habitat Management Plans.
  • Advising clients on bird mitigation strategies in line with UK wildlife legislation.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in ornithological fieldwork and survey techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of UK bird species, ecology, and conservation legislation.
  • Experience producing professional reports for clients and statutory authorities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in ecology, environmental science, or related fields.
Desirable
  • Membership of professional bodies (e.g., CIEEM, BTO).
  • Experience with GIS mapping and data analysis.
