Job summary

A leading fueling solutions company is looking for a Value Stream Leader in Dundee. You will be responsible for leading production personnel, driving operational excellence, and improving quality standards. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing, and strong leadership & coaching abilities. Full-time, on-site work is required, with shift patterns including day and back shifts. Passion for operational excellence and team development is essential.

The Value Stream Leader (VSL) directly leads the production personnel to control quality, cost and delivery within their production area. A VSL is a person that is responsible for increasing the ratio of value add to effort, and eliminating waste in the process, for a defined production area; and for ensuring that the value stream meets or exceeds customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, motivate and develop the team to drive operational excellence;
• Act as a coach/mentor for direct reports and develop talent aligned to the Business Strategy;
• Nurture a high‑performance culture throughout the workforce, dedicated to achieving stretched results;
• Maintain and improve Environment, Health & Safety standards throughout the yard, warehouse and material handling area;
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase the ratio of value add to effort by eliminating waste in the process;
• Embrace the value of standard work – CI – new standard work – as our cycle of improvement;
• Monitor quality standards, troubleshoot and resolve;
• Plan resources to ensure optimum staffing to meet production targets;
• Prepare regular reports to measure and monitor results, improvements and status of projects;

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar position;
• Experience of working within a continuous improvement/lean manufacturing environment;
• Previous supervisory experience, with a track record of having developed a multi‑skilled warehouse and material handling team;
• Ability to deal with people at all levels (shop floor – senior management);
• The VSL must be able to step back and view the value stream from a broad perspective;
• Experience of warehousing/material handling and yard areas is an advantage;
• Experience of lean thinking, or alternatively be willing to work closely with a CI Leader to obtain this knowledge;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Good problem‑solving skills combined with an innovative approach;
• Strong influencing leadership, coaching, motivational and people development skills. This person should have exemplary leadership abilities, be able to motivate individuals in the value stream to change;
• Strong IT skills;
• Production planning and coordinating skills;

This position is located in Dundee and full time on‑site presence is required.

Shifts will include day shift and back shift and you must be willing to work both shift patterns.
