Operations Shift Manager

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Average of 40 hours per week, 12 hour rotating shift pattern

Location: Greatmoor EFW, Buckinghamshire, HP18 0AF

About the Role

As an Operations Shift Manager at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the health and safety of all staff, contractors, and visitors to site, minimising environmental impact, delivering customer expectations, and ensuring efficient site operations. This role involves overseeing the site operations on a daily basis, managing operations teams, serving as the Safety Rules site Control Person and Senior Authorised Person and implementing operational changes.

What Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a committed and experienced leader with :

  • Qualifications & Experience :
    • HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent technical qualification / experience.
    • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience in a steam-powered power plant operations role.
    • Strong understanding of HSE requirements (NEBOSH or IOSH preferred).
    • Knowledge of thermal power plant processes, Safety Rules and permit and safety systems, HV switching, steam cycle chemistry, and technical drawings.
    • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience (training provided if needed).

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Leading and directing operations teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with SHEQ policies and environmental permits.
  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work.
  • Reporting and investigating incidents and near misses.
  • Driving operational improvements and analysing incidents to prevent recurrence.
  • Supervising contractors and maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
  • Acting as Operations Manager in their absence.
  • Maintaining the shift rota and supporting day-to-day and annual planning.
