Job description
Overview

We have a great opportunity to join Thames Water as an Operations Performance Manager, to work across the Swindon area and surrounding region. You will assist with the day-to-day running of up to 15 Sewage Treatment Works and manage a small multi-skilled team of up to 12 technicians. This is a 6-month contract. You will operate from the main site at Swindon, STW, and will visit other sites; a driving licence is essential as you will travel throughout the week. A van is provided. The role is 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in an out-of-hours rota for escalations and advice, as Thames Water operates 24 hours a day. You will join the Thames Valley South Operations Team in Wastewater, offering a strong opportunity to establish a career in frontline operations.

What will you be doing as an Operations Performance Manager?
  • Health and Safety – Lead the Health & Safety culture of the team, driving a environment where good practices are standard and total compliance is adhered to.
  • Process Management – Manage site compliance of Sewage Treatment Works, ensuring plant availability and reliability to meet quality targets set by the regulator.
  • Performance Management – Drive the team to achieve optimal performance in work management and develop the team with new skills and Health & Safety awareness.
  • Financial Management – Own and manage the budgetary and financial activities of the team and drive efficiencies in the operational budget.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management – Ensure an exceptional service to customers with proactive early interventions as required.
Essential criteria

We are seeking an experienced people manager who can make a difference and has:

  • Experience of successfully managing an operational team with strong leadership, coaching, motivation and engagement abilities; capable of connecting and collaborating within the team and across the organisation.
  • Experience in leading and enforcing a Health & Safety culture with full compliance as a norm.
  • Ideally IOSH or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, provide feedback, and articulate a clear business vision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of raising standards within a team.
  • Computer literacy with ability to analyse data in Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
