Job Title: On Street Bike Operative

Location: Clapham Depot, SW2 5DZ

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, 1 in 3 weekends, Rostered Shift Pattern, 0700-1530 / 1100-19:30

Salary: £28,808 per annum + excellent benefits

London's public bike sharing scheme is available 24/7, 365 days a year. There are more than 12,300 bikes, 2000 ebikes and over 800 bike docking stations across London to help you get around quickly and easily. The scheme recently expanded to Southwest London so now you can saddle up anywhere from Shepherds Bush to Canary Wharf and Wandsworth Town to Camden Town.

Role Overview

You will be the public face of Serco's London Cycle Hire team in the community, representing the business in a very positive way and interacting with members of the public in a friendly and approachable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Swap batteries and triage bikes to support the fleet and ensure customers get where they want to go.
  • Travel around London on an E‑Cargo bike; receive eCargo Bike training and professional qualification.
  • Support Cycle Hire Hubs during morning and evening peaks.
  • Transport eBike batteries using eCargo Bikes across the city.
  • Complete mobile triage of the Cycle Hire fleet across the scheme.
  • Provide assistance to the workshop on an ad‑hoc basis to support workshop operations.
  • Remain a confident cyclist, physically capable of keeping up with on‑street demand in a target‑pressured environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Previous delivery or cycling experience desired.
  • Physically fit, able to cycle the distances required.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Random drug and alcohol testing will be conducted.
