About Us

Ligna Consultancy is a small, well‑established arboricultural consultancy based near Newmarket, Suffolk. Founded in 2016, we help simplify the process of managing trees for safety and within the planning system for a wide range of clients. We are a team of five, including three consultants and two office administrators. The new role will be replacing an outgoing administrator.

The Role

We’re looking for a friendly, motivated and organised Business Administrator to support our director and team with customer service, business operations, and project coordination. This is an excellent opportunity, with immediate start, for someone who wants a career in business administration and staff/project management. On‑job training provided, but experience highly desired.

Hours

Part‑time (26–30 hours per week) with some flexibility as to working times. Please confirm your preferred working pattern during the interview.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the existing Office Manager to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Data entry, retrieval, and database maintenance.
  • Digital filing and archiving.
  • Prepare quotations and invoices.
  • Credit control and payment tracking.
  • Create and manage business documents and spreadsheets.
  • Schedule diaries for the director and team members.
  • Liaise with clients to answer queries and resolve issues.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident IT skills (Microsoft Office essential).
  • Awareness of GDPR.
  • Previous experience in administration or customer service desirable.
  • Familiarity with Xero accounting software.

Salary

£19.6k–£24k P/A (FTE £28k‑£30k) - dependent on experience.
