Job summary

Job description

Enthusiastic and confident person required to join our Community Mental Health team, working alongside our Specialist Occupational Therapist. This part‑time post is based in Dunoon, Argyll but covers the whole Cowal & Bute locality. Some flexibility in working day/hours may be possible.

With the aim of promoting independence and improving quality of life, the post‑holder will assist the Qualified Occupational Therapist to provide meaningful and rehabilitation activities. This will be done both in group and individual sessions.

You will have an understanding of Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. Experience in a mental health setting is desirable as well as a positive attitude to people with mental health problems and recovery‑focused care. Experience working with the Model of Human Occupation is desirable.

'O' Level, Standard Grade / National 4 English (or equivalent) is required as well as a positive attitude to people with mental health problems and excellent communication skills. Applicants will have an HNC in Occupational Therapy Support or demonstrable equivalent training e.g. SVQ 3. If HNC not obtained, candidates should show willingness to undertake the distance learning HNC in Occupational Therapy support. Prior experience of dealing with people in a health / social care / teaching setting and practical and creative skills would be useful.

Driving licence is essential.

Training, support and supervision will be provided.
