Job description
Overview

The OT and PT team practice enhanced skills and you will be supported to achieve selective competencies within physiotherapy to enhance the service for our patients. You will be supported to develop the skills to work independently, to provide delivery of care including liaison with patients, family members, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies following a "home first" model. IT skills are required, as the service operates with electronic patient records. There is a commitment to support 7‑day services, so flexibility to work weekends on a rota system will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with assessing and treating patients in a range of daily activities to encourage functional independence in preparation for their discharge from hospital.
  • Work under the guidance of qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other therapy support staff within the services.
  • Provide delivery of care, including liaison with patients, family members, carers, the multi‑disciplinary team and external agencies following a "home first" model.
  • Support 7‑day services and be flexible to cover other wards as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in a therapy environment within the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of patients experiencing an acute admission.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexibility, initiative and ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment.
