Overview

Occupational Therapist - Single-Handed Care Review Project - Shropshire. Contract: Full-time | Initial 15 weeks (project-based). We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Single-Handed Care to join Shropshire Council's Adult Social Care team. This project focuses on reviewing and reshaping existing care packages to promote independence, reduce reliance on carers, and improve client wellbeing. This role is essential to delivering the Single-Handed Care Review Project, and applicants must have 7+ years' experience and formal training in single-handed care.

Responsibilities

• Undertake 10 single-handed assessments per week as part of the 15-week review project.
• Evaluate existing care packages and recommend appropriate equipment or adaptations.
• Provide specialist advice to reduce double-handed care where safe and appropriate.
• Order and manage equipment needs assessed under the Care Act (2014).
• Work collaboratively with the wider Adult Social Care team to update and adapt support plans.
• Promote independence and wellbeing for service users while ensuring safety and best practice.

Requirements (Essential)

• Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC Registration
• Minimum 7 years' post-qualified experience
• Formal training and experience in Single-Handed Care (must be visible on CV)
• Strong knowledge of moving & handling, equipment provision, and risk management
• Enhanced DBS (we can assist)
• Eligibility to work in the UK

Contract & Pay

Duration: 15 weeks

Expected caseload: 10 single-handed assessments per week

Umbrella rate: £31.97 per hour (in line with latest MOU regulations)

Candidates must comply with the new 12-month MOC exemptions for the West Midlands
