Job Overview

We are delighted to offer an experienced, enthusiastic, self‑motivated and innovative Occupational Therapist the opportunity to join our team within the Directorate of Mental Health based at Stewart House in Narborough. Stewart House is a 30‑bed mixed‑gender inpatient mental‑health rehabilitation unit that cares for patients with severe and enduring mental illness. You will be joining our well‑established, forward‑thinking and supportive team on a Job Share basis, 3 days per week (Tues/Wed/Thurs) or (Wed/Thurs/Fri). As a Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Occupational Therapist you will work within an MDT team with another Band 6 OT and 3 OTAs to provide ongoing Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to address needs in Functional, Psycho‑social, Cognitive, Sensory and Physical Health.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision to Band 5 and Band 3 staff and support their progress. Lead the OT team on a day‑to‑day basis within an established progressive and supportive team environment. Deliver specialist assessment and treatment within a multidisciplinary format, utilising tools such as MOHOST and ACDM. Provide ongoing therapy to patients with severe and enduring mental illness utilizing functional, psycho‑social, cognitive, sensory and physical interventions. Support OT students and contribute to continuous professional development. Maintain high‑quality clinical practice and professional standards within the service.

Qualifications

Band 6 Occupational Therapist with experience working with adults with severe and enduring mental illness. Demonstrable experience of supervising lower band staff. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to apply occupational therapy process to deliver recovery‑focused care.
