We have a new opportunity for a dedicated and highly motivated person to manage an established nursery in the Denton area of Tameside. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care and education, managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining effective communication with parents and guardians.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the facility.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, health and safety checks, and incident reports.
- Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
- Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate staff-to-child ratios are maintained.
- Foster a positive work environment and address any staff issues promptly.
- Childcare and Education
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and educational programs that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children.
- Monitor and assess the development and progress of children, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Ensure that all children’s individual needs are met and that inclusive practices are implemented.
- Parent and Guardian Engagement
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child’s progress, any issues, and upcoming events.
- Address parent and guardian concerns and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Organize parent-teacher meetings and other events to foster community and involvement.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local and national regulations and standards, including health and safety, and child protection policies.
- Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised environment.
- Financial Management
- Prepare and manage the budget, including forecasting and managing expenses.
- Oversee billing and fee collection processes.
- Monitor financial performance and report on budgetary status to senior management.
- Marketing and Enrolment
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the nursery and attract new enrolments.
- Manage the enrolment process, including tours, applications, and waitlists.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of an Early Years Educator Level 3 or equivalent.
- Maths GCSE or equivalent.
- Experience
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in an early years setting, preferably with experience in a managerial role.
- Skills & Attributes
- Passion for early childhood education and child development.
- A good understanding of stages of development and milestones.
- An excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted welfare requirements.
- Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
- Patient, nurturing, and compassionate.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the community.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
