Job summary

A community-focused educational trust is seeking a Nursery Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of a nursery. This full-time position involves assisting with childcare activities and maintaining a positive environment for children and staff. The role requires fluent spoken English and a commitment to safeguarding children. The position is contract-based and offers a salary within Scale 3 NJC points £25,583 – £25,989.

Job description
Nursery Assistant

Location: Grange Park Primary School, Community Academies Trust.

Working pattern: Term time plus one week – 37 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 08:15 – 16:00. Tuesday 08:00 – 16:30. 30‑minute unpaid lunch break.

Contract: Permanent.

Salary: Scale 3 NJC point 5 to point 6 (£25,583 – 25,989).

Disclosed level: Enhanced.

Start date: As soon as possible (subject to safer recruitment checks).

Role overview: The Nursery Assistant will support the Nursery Manager and the wider nursery team with the day‑to‑day running of the nursery, helping to maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for children, parents, carers and staff. This includes assisting with high‑quality childcare and learning activities, maintaining a well‑organised and nurturing learning environment, building positive relationships with families, supporting colleagues as required, and contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the nursery each day.
