A leading healthcare provider in Leeds is looking for a part-time Nurse Specialist in Renal Transplant. The successful candidate will guide post-transplant patients through their initial inpatient phase and assist with home transitions. Candidates should have a Level 1 Registered Nurse qualification and substantial experience, particularly in transplant nursing. Responsibilities
  • Guide post‑renal transplant patients through the crucial initial inpatient phase, delivering bedside ERAS training and discharge education.
  • Assist with seamless home transition by providing comprehensive discharge education and ensuring patients feel confident and prepared.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team during ward rounds to optimise patient care.
  • Engage in early transplant clinics (twice weekly) reviewing up to 6 patients per session (≈30 reviews per week).
  • Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a caseload of approximately 1250 patients.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, and continuous improvement of the renal transplant pathway.
  • Support and train junior staff, learners, and patients/carers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and communicate effectively with the team and community services.
  • Participate in research, clinical trials, and audit programmes relevant to the specialty.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1)
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
  • Post‑registration qualification in renal medicine (desirable)
  • Substantial experience at Band 5 or equivalent, including renal medicine (essential).
  • Experience in transplant nursing, audit and standard setting (essential).
  • Experience in service development and/or change management (desirable).
