Job summary

A leading nuclear recruitment agency is seeking a Nuclear Technical Specialist for a permanent role in Barrow-in-Furness. This position requires full onsite presence with occasional remote work. The successful candidate will develop and deliver specialized nuclear training packages and work with technical teams to enhance training quality. Essential qualifications include a strong understanding of nuclear systems and experience in delivering technical training. This role offers the opportunity to engage directly with clients and Subject Matter Experts.

Job description

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Nuclear Technical Specialist with a background in systems training to be engaged on a permanent basis in Barrow-in-Furness. This role requires full onsite presence with a couple of work from home days per month.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver specialist nuclear training packages aligned to business, programme, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide expert input into the development and assurance of nuclear training assets within your technical specialism
  • Act as a critical friend to enhance training quality across wider nuclear safety learning
  • Engage with customers and Subject Matter Experts to build specialist nuclear capability
  • Maintain compliant training governance, assurance, and administration
  • Sustain and develop your own nuclear shipbuilder competence through engagement in build, test and commissioning, regulatory, or assurance activities
  • Apply Naval Nuclear Steam Raising Plant expertise to complex engineering systems, products, and problem resolution
Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of nuclear systems and/or nuclear safety compliance within a Nuclear Submarine build environment
  • Qualification and experience in developing and delivering technical training
  • Ability to tailor training for different audiences
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • Ex-submariner with knowledge of reactor and reactor support systems
