Job Description Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future Dowty’s propeller programs. The NPI value stream leader is responsible for building and running the New Product Introduction team, this includes providing leadership to the team, the creation and maintenance of the supporting processes, (both local and GE global) and providing oversight and accountability to meeting both internal and customer requirements. This role has a requirement for strong integration, communication and teamworking skills.

  • Functional ownership and accountability for New Product Introduction and the associated resources and budgets
  • P&L responsibility across the portfolio of NPI programs  Securing funding for NPI programs from government and customers
  • Provides leadership, development and coaching to the NPI project and program management team
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of processes to support schedule, costs, resource, risk & opportunity and change management within the NPI toll gate phases
  • Key point of contact for customer escalations or critical communications for programs in development
  • Sponsors and supports internal communications from monthly NPI program reviews through to monthly operating reviews with Dowty and GE senior management
  • Responsible for the NPI development budget in conjunction with Engineering leadership
  • Develops, maintains and integrates, the through lifecycle toll gate process for Dowty in alignment with GE best practices
  • Accountable for the application of LEAN and FLIGHT DECK standards into the NPI, lifecycle and program management processes
  • Accountable for toll gate reviews and execution of supporting action plans to deliver business benefit of work within the NPI development cycle
  • Accountable for the transition of programmes from NPI into production and aftermarket phases, including meeting company required TRL and MRL requirements
  • Responsible for engagement, support and participates in negotiations during new bid proposals to customers
  • Accountable for developing and growing customer relationships in accordance with Dowty strategy roadmap
  • Acts as PM for unallocated development programs (where resource gaps occur)
  • Supports special roles within the business as needed.
Job role requirements
  • Extensive aerospace experience in a PMO or a program management leader role
  • Expert knowledge of MS toolset to support programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Certification with PMP or APM or PRINCE 2.
  • Qualified to degree level (preferably with a STEM related degree)
  • Some UK and international travel may be required to support project partners including customers, suppliers, and engineering service providers

  • Practical experience with Lean management system
