About The Role

A leading manufacturer of scientific instrumentation in Oxfordshire is looking for a Junior NPI Engineer to support new product introduction and optical development projects. This role is ideal for a graduate or junior engineer with a strong background in physics, optics or photonics who is keen to work in R&D and product development.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design and development of new optical products and scientific instruments
  • Carry out hands‑on optical design and simulation using tools such as Zemax
  • Contribute to testing, analysis and validation of optical and photonic systems
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional R&D teams to bring new products from concept through to manufacture
Requirements
  • Degree, Masters or PhD in Physics, Optics, Photonics or related discipline
  • 1+ years experience in an R&D or product development environment (academic or industrial)
  • Practical experience in optical design and modelling (Zemax or equivalent)
Desirable Skills
  • Simulation and analysis of optical or photonic systems
  • Experience with electronics hardware or opto‑electronics
  • Knowledge of product development processes and NPI (new product introduction)
