Main duties and responsibilities
Utilise expert knowledge to support and monitor safe staffing across clinical divisions, ensuring robust clinical governance systems are in place.
Provide visible leadership, support, and direction to clinical teams and managers regarding the safe staffing agenda.
Act as a role model, promoting high standards of safe and effective care based on best evidence.
Work with the Workforce Deployment team and Business Intelligence to ensure meaningful use of staffing metrics.
Lead the introduction staffing models within the Trust.
Advise Associate Directors of Nursing on staffing during exceptional circumstances.
Promote effective use of temporary staffing within agreed financial parameters.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national staffing and workforce directives.
Prepare presentations and reports for the Trust Committees and Board as required.
Represent the organization at regional and national Safe Staffing forums, presenting and feeding back information on behalf of the Trust.
Champion a safeguarding culture across the Trust.
Update policies and procedures regarding safe staffing.
Ensure compliance with Safe Nursing Care Tool licenses.
Contribute to internal and external recruitment events with the Head of Resourcing, promoting safe staffing.

The Non-Medical Safe Staffing Lead will play a crucial role in supporting clinical divisions to maximise non-medical staffing provision across the organisation. This involves leading and coordinating non-medical skill mix establishment reviews, refining these processes in line with national guidance, and adopting new methodologies for determining staffing requirements.
In addition, they will generate ideas and implement work streams to increase staff roster efficiency and improve recruitment and retention of non-medical staff.
The postholder will provide senior professional advice and guidance on all aspects of the Safe Staffing agenda to the Deputy Chief Nurse, Chief Nursing Officer and Executive Leadership Team, working closely with the Deputy Chief Nurse, Divisional Nurse Directors, and Senior Leadership teams.
As the lead for non- medical safe staffing, the postholder will collaborate with the Workforce Deployment team to ensure the right staff, with the right skills, are in the right place at the right time.
Responsibilities also include generating Bi-Annual Trust Safe Staffing reports for the Board of Directors, and managing the collection, use, and interpretation of data related to safe staffing across inpatient and community services. The postholder will provide professional and visible senior leadership across the trust, ensuring consistent implementation of safe staffing practices across the Directorates.
