Job description
United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme

Full-time | Global travel | High-pressure race environment

If you’re a highly capable mechanic who thrives under pressure, takes pride in elite workmanship, and wants to work on one of the most technically advanced race cars on the planet — this is your opportunity.

About the Role

As a Number 2 Mechanic on our McLaren Hypercar programme, you’ll work at the sharpest end of endurance racing. You’ll support the No1 Mechanic in delivering flawless mechanical preparation, build quality, and trackside execution. You’ll be hands‑on with some of the most complex assemblies in modern motorsport — drivetrain, suspension, hydraulics, systems integration — ensuring the car is built to specification and ready to perform.

This role demands focus, consistency, smart decision‑making and absolute pride in the standard of your work.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting the No1 Mechanic in full car build and strip processes.
  • Conducting mechanical servicing, repairs and component changes under time‑critical conditions.
  • Maintaining build standards, torque procedures, labelling, version control and cleanliness.
  • Working closely with engineers, electricians, systems techs and other mechanics to deliver a fault‑free car.
  • Preparing pit equipment, garage infrastructure and supporting race operations.
  • Ensuring tooling, workstations and parts are organised and audit‑ready.
  • Following all safety, regulatory and operational protocols with discipline and accountability.
  • Supporting live session turnarounds, pitstops and urgent repair operations.
What You’ll Bring
  • Strong mechanical background in elite motorsport (Hypercar, LMP2, GT, FE, F1, WRC or similar).
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure without losing accuracy or composure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork across technical and operational colleagues.
  • High personal standards, attention to detail and a commitment to flawless execution.
  • Willingness to travel globally and work long hours during race events.

If you’re serious, skilled and want to work at the absolute top of your trade — we want to hear from you.
