About the Role

As a Night Shift Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted operations during night hours. You'll be responsible for effective maintenance, rapid fault-finding, and continuous improvement across the site, working with a skilled and supportive team that is committed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. This is a permanent night shift role, offering stability, autonomy, and opportunities for overtime and development.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns during night shifts.
  • Diagnose faults and implement long‑term solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Prioritise and manage your workload to meet operational KPIs and production demands.
  • Work independently while maintaining strong communication with day‑shift teams for effective handovers.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards.
  • Supervise contractors when required and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Monitor spare parts usage and ensure machinery operates to site and manufacturer standards.
  • Liaise with Operations, Technical, Quality, and other departments to support site performance.
About You
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years' hands‑on experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance (or equivalent qualifications).
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong fault‑finding, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
  • Comfortable working autonomously on nights, with a proactive and safety‑first approach.
  • Confident communicator, able to challenge constructively when required.
  • Experience within food manufacturing and familiarity with Pirana CMMS are desirable.
