Overview

Night Inpatient Nurse opportunity at HMP Brixton, a Category B Remand Prison since April 2025. Focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.

Hours

Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Night shifts run from 20:00 to 08:00. Shifts rotated between weekdays and weekends.

Salary

Up to £53,134 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, respond to emergencies, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
  • Deliver nurse-led clinics to your patient group with support from a multi-disciplinary team
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision: provide outstanding evidence-based care, seek feedback, and ensure care is personalised and informed by what matters to patients
  • Deliver non-judgemental care in line with our Health in Justice competency framework

Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Night Inpatient Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton.

HMP Brixton is now a Category B male prison since April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients’ needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.
