Job summary

A UK-based recruitment firm is seeking a Legal Consultant to provide comprehensive legal counsel and support compliance efforts across Europe and North America. The ideal candidate must have an LLB or LLM degree, at least two years of PQE or in-house counsel experience, and fluency in English. Familiarity with the oil industry and proficiency in office software are preferred. This is a permanent, fully office-based position with a competitive salary up to £120k, based in Greater London.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to all Company’s departments across Europe and North America.
  • Review contracts and manage procurement operations.
  • Enhance compliance management and risk control framework.
  • Deliver legal guidance on dispute resolution and commercial negotiations.
  • Participate in contract management and organization of signed contracts.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a compliance framework.

Legal Consultant - What You’ll be Doing
  • Provide legal counsel to all Company’s departments and business operations across Europe and North America.
  • Review contracts and manage the Company’s procurement operations.
  • Implement and enhance the Company’s compliance management and risk control framework.
  • Support corporate information registration, Sponsorship License applications, and annual regulatory filings as part of corporate governance management.
  • Deliver legal guidance to all Company’s departments and business operations in Europe and North America, including but not limited to dispute resolution (international arbitration & cross‑border litigation), major commercial negotiations, and cross‑border compliance.
  • Develop and strengthen collaborations with UK legal, financial, and business institutions, conducting regular research, information exchange, and consultations on legal, financial, and business policies.
  • Participate in contract management, including drafting, reviewing and amending contracts, and maintaining efficient document organization of signed contracts physically and electronically.
  • Participate in procurement management, preparing or reviewing procurement requests, strategy reports, procurement work reports, and contract approval forms in accordance with procurement regulations, and maintaining efficient document organization of signed documents physically and electronically.
  • Participate in the development of the company’s internal control and risk management system, including establishing and improving internal control and risk management policies, conducting regular risk assessments, and proposing risk mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a robust compliance framework, support regulatory reviews, prepare compliance reports, and conduct regular training to enhance legal and policy awareness across the company.
Legal Consultant - The Skills You’ll Need to Succeed
  • LLB or LLM Legal Degree from a recognized University in the UK
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a lawyer (PQE) or in‑house counsel; experience in the oil industry will be preferred.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Chinese is a plus
  • Proficient in basic office softwares such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
