As the NMT you play a key role in enabling clients to regain independence and enhance their experience of therapy whilst at STEPS.

The NMT team delivers bothindividual and group interventions,supportingclients withavariety ofcomplexneurologicaland complextraumapresentationsat various stages of rehabilitation and care.Referrals are made based on clinical need, and music therapists contributetoclientcase reviews andinterdisciplinarydiscussionsasappropriate. Sessions are goal-oriented, tailored to eachclient'sneeds, and often delivered in collaboration withothertherapydisciplines to support integrated, person-centredcare.

This Job description is an outline which reflects the present requirements of the post and is not intended to be exhaustive list of duties the post holder will be expected to fulfil.
To deliver a high-quality, evidence based Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) service to clients with diverse, complex presentations.
Manage a defined caseload using specialist assessment and treatment approaches, including Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) principles and Music Therapy approaches appropriate.
Engage in regular clinical supervision, NMT professional development credits and wider CPD to maintain professional standards in line with the NMT Academy, BAMT and HCPC requirements.
Contribute to the efficient running and development of the NMT service under guidance of the Lead NMT.
To undertake initial assessments, reviews and evaluation of Therapy strategies for residential clients from admission to discharge.
To be able to utilise highly developed therapeutic skills to support rehabilitation for clients presenting with a diverse range of neurological and complex trauma injuries.
To involve clients and carers/family in the development and delivery of goals within the rehabilitation plan.
Provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other team members.
To adhere to and carry out individual client and departmental risk assessments.
To liaise effectively with appropriate members of the team regarding the progress of clients to optimise the outcome for each individual. This may include family and written reports to external bodies.
To act upon and expedite issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures.
To be compliant with the clinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures.
To identify the need for audit and be involved in clinical audits as and when directed.
To contribute and lead on specific projects related to service delivery e.g. quality programmes, education and training and contributing to the setting and monitoring of practice standards.
To be involved in and oversee team involvement in Research and Development.
To represent STEPS, in line with our values at a variety of conferences and events.
To effectively communicate using a variety of styles that demonstrates the values and behaviours of STEPS.
To communicate with people clearly and in a manner and at a level and pace appropriate to their abilities, preferences and beliefs.
To develop effective relationships with clients, carers, STEPS team, suppliers and others as from time to time may be required.
To be responsible for reporting to and seeking approvals from the clinical director for any areas of responsibility for example policy implementation and development, financial management and performance.
To be responsible for identifying training requirements and providing input to training both in development and/or delivery as required.
To be responsible for undertaking supervisions for a nominated team group in line with the supervision process.
To be responsible for the implementation and improvements as may be required from time to time of the training and needs analysis and reporting to the clinical director.
To be involved with the workforce planning process as and when required.
To use all resources responsibly being mindful of the implications of your decisions.
To review requirements for stock/equipment, and feedback recommendations to the senior management team (SMT).
