Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and trauma‑informed Registered Nurse to take on the pivotal role of Named Nurse for Children in Care within our BSW 019 Service. This is a senior leadership post, responsible for leading the Children in Care team and ensuring we meet our contractual and statutory responsibilities to Children in Care across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.

Working closely with safeguarding colleagues and a range of partner agencies, you will champion best practice, drive high‑quality service delivery, and ensure that Children in Care receive coordinated, compassionate and effective health support.

As our Named Nurse for Children in Care, you will play a crucial role in shaping provision, influencing practice, and ensuring that every child in care receives the high‑quality support they deserve.

This is a part‑time position (30 hrs p/week).

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a member of the Children in Care team, local Safeguarding teams, the wider HCRG Care Group safeguarding and Children in Care sub‑committee, and Strive for Better safeguarding and Children in Care operational group.
  • Develop programmes/pathways that support the team to deliver their contractual obligations and optimise the health outcomes for Children in Care, and contribute to the development of wider organisational Children in Care policies, processes and procedures.
  • Be trauma‑aware and understand the principles of a trauma‑informed approach to care and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on children and adults.
  • Advise local police, children's social care and other statutory and voluntary agencies on health matters regarding Children in Care.
  • Liaise closely with other specialist services such as CAMHS, sexual health, and services for disabled children.
  • Support and advise HCRG Care Group colleagues within services in their responsibility to Children in Care within service provision through HCRG's clinical governance processes.
  • Contribute to the planning and strategic organisation of provider services for Children in Care.
  • When required, undertake health assessments for Children in Care and provide written reports on the health of prospective carers as appropriate.

Qualifications and Personal Specification
