Job summary

A manufacturing company in Telford is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to provide engineering support, manage machinery maintenance and drive projects to completion. The ideal candidate will have PLC experience, a BTEC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and be multi-skilled in mechanical and electrical disciplines. Benefits include a competitive salary of £42K-£45K, 33 days of holiday, and a performance bonus.

Qualifications

  • Experience of PLC’s – Siemens Type S5 and S7.
  • 17th Edition Electrical Installation is mandatory.
  • Multi skilled in both mechanical and electrical disciplines.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Job description
MULTI-SKILLED ENGINEER

General outline:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager this position will be responsible for breakdowns, maintenance and project engineering within the Company’s manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide engineering support and information for the Engineer’s and Engineering Manager to support machinery breakdown repairs, maintenance and development of the manufacturing operations and business needs.
  • To assess, repair, maintain and develop machinery and equipment. Researching and data collecting as applicable.
  • Assess project requirements. Drive forward projects through to completion. Producing relevant reports to applicable team, presenting solutions and project work in structured format.
  • To provide manufacturing support relating to plant/process efficiency, safety, and product quality as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • To ensure engineering workshop procedures and equipment are developed and maintained in a satisfactory condition; that related environment, health and safety issues, standards and policies are maintained and adhered to.
  • Any other existing or new tasks needed to meet the business operations requirements / objectives that are in keeping with post-holders skills and training, primarily in an engineering capacity.
  • Compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, works instructions and safe systems of work are mandatory.
  • Liaising with suppliers, achieving optimum solutions.
  • Measuring performance of mechanical components, devices and process supporting functions.
  • Provide reports to applicable stakeholders across full scope of the business.
Requirements:
  • Experience of PLC’s – Siemens Type S5 and S7
  • Experience of working with Eurotherm and Uni Drives
  • Time service Electrical/Mechanical Engineer
  • 17th Edition Electrical Installation
  • BTEC or above in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Multi skilled in both mechanical/electrical disciplines
  • Ability to fault find on hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to use workshop machinery, i.e. lathes, jigs, milling machines.
  • Self motivated, solutions led, methodical, team player.
Hours of Work:

Currently days – 8am to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4.00 p.m. Friday - 42 Hours per week. May at some point in the future change to shift working.

These hours and starting and finishing times may vary from time to meet the needs of the business so flexibility will be required.

Call out required Monday to Wednesday 5pm to 11pm on a rota basis.

Salary:

£42K-£45k including allowances, depending on skills and experience.
