Job description
The Role

As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you’ll be the driving force behind the maintenance and reliability of our production equipment. While your primary focus will be mechanical systems, a working knowledge of electrical components will be valuable. You’ll play a key role in minimising downtime, improving equipment performance, and supporting a high-output manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and diagnostics across a wide range of production machinery
  • Perform both reactive and planned preventative maintenance to ensure equipment uptime
  • Support minor electrical tasks and collaborate with multi-skilled engineering colleagues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on mechanical reliability, safety, and efficiency
  • Ensure all mechanical systems and repairs meet safety and compliance standards
  • Assist with rapid line changeovers and setups to support production demands
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to spare parts management
  • Help develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
About You
  • Time-served or formally qualified in mechanical engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • Strong hands‑on experience with mechanical systems in a production or manufacturing setting
  • Comfortable with basic electrical fault‑finding and working alongside electrical engineers
  • Skilled in diagnosing issues with motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and pneumatics
  • Solid understanding of health & safety practices and safe systems of work
  • Proactive, adaptable, and a strong team player who thrives under pressure
  • Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing is a plus, but not essential
