Job summary

A leading education recruitment agency is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanics Tutor to provide training in a classroom-based environment. The position requires a recognised qualification in Motor Mechanics and offers a salary of up to £35,000, depending on skills and experience. Responsibilities include teaching vocational qualifications, monitoring student progress, and ensuring sessions are engaging. Candidates should be confident in delivering workshops and adapting to learners’ needs. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Newmarket.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a recognised qualification in Motor Mechanics.
  • Willingness to work towards PTLLS/AET and/or Assessors Award.
  • Experience of delivering on-job training to colleagues is highly desirable.

  • Teach/assess learners working towards a vocational qualification in Motor Mechanics.
  • Ensure sessions are motivating and engaging for learners.
  • Monitor student attendance and progress through assessments.

Criteria for all candidates
  • Must hold a recognised qualification in Motor Mechanics, such as an NVQ level 2 or above.
  • Willingness to work towards PTLLS/AET and/or Assessors Award – fully funded and supported by employer
  • Experience of delivering on‑job training to colleagues is highly desirable.
  • Confident and comfortable to deliver training/workshops to groups of learners
  • Must hold solid occupational competency within Motor Mechanics.
  • Must be IT Literate.
Duties include
  • Teach/assess learners working towards a vocational qualification in Motor Mechanics within a classroom‑based environment.
  • Ensure sessions are motivating, engaging and develop learners’ skills knowledge and behaviours.
  • Monitor student attendance and progress through regular student assessment and reviews.
  • Provide advice and guidance to learners relating to decision making and progression.
  • Embedding of Maths and English into sessions.
  • Overcome barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learner’s needs.
Personal Skills
  • Organisational skills are a must, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively.
  • Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people.
  • Quality driven and prepared to go the extra mile for your learners.
