Job summary

A leading used car dealer in Stevenage is looking for a qualified MOT Tester / Mechanic to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will resolve vehicle issues, ensure repairs meet DVLA standards, and perform MOT tests. You should hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent, an MOT testing certificate, and have significant mechanical experience. The position offers a salary between £28,000 and £35,000 per annum and requires you to work Monday to Friday with alternate Saturdays.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 / City & Guilds level 2 and 3 or equivalent.
• MOT testing certificate for Class 4 and 7 vehicles.
• Category B Driving License required.

About the role

As an MOT Tester / Mechanic, your responsibilities will include :

• Resolving straightforward problems and modifying work daily to suit without waiting for instruction
• Ensuring issues that have been identified with vehicles repairing as required to DVLA standards
• Using diagnostic equipment, practical skills and experience to identify issues
• Preparing vehicles for and carrying out MOT tests

About you

To be successful for the role of MOT Tester / Mechanic you must be / have :

• NVQ 3 / City & Guilds level 2 and 3 or equivalent
• MOT testing certificate, MOT Class 4 and 7
• Category B Driving License
• Competent mechanic with significant experience
• Knowledge of working in a workshop environment
• Able to complete all records and workshop paperwork correctly and promptly
• Knowledge of Health and safety regulations, practices and procedures

About the rewards

For the role of MOT Tester / Mechanic, you will work Monday to Friday (8 : 30 am - 5 : 30 pm) and every other Saturday (8 : 30 am - 12 : 30 pm) and there is an excellent salary on offer of £28,000 to £35,000 per annum.
