Modern Matron

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced RMN to join our in-patient management team in Luton & Beds Inpatient Services. You will work alongside the wards clinical team to provide robust and consistent clinical and managerial leadership and day-to-day operational management of the ward. You will need to have a proven track record of being a leader and manager at Band 7/8a.

We are looking for an individual who will support the ongoing development of the service. You will have knowledge and interest in quality and governance, demonstrating an innovative and dynamic approach to ensuring the delivery of high-quality, holistic, patient care in a challenging and fast paced environment. You will also have excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will ensure the provision of an enhanced experience of clinical care to our service users and at the same time promoting the safety of service users and staff in what can be a clinically challenging environment.

You will be expected to work alongside the DBLN, BLN and the Clinical Director and the rest of the multi-disciplinary team to participate in service improvements and evaluation.

As we continue to recover from the pandemic, the senior nurse leadership team are excited to turn towards staff development opportunities, and the beginning of several improvement projects around reducing restrictive practice, and Trauma Informed Care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure and develop service user centred multi-disciplinary approach to care.
  • Develop the systems, staff skills, and abilities to provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in keeping with evidence based practice.
  • Lead in direct care to complex service users or groups of service users and role model to junior staff.
  • Developing a learning environment and opportunities for staff to obtain specialist guidance relevant to complex care or clinical speciality.
  • Ensuring that a high standard of practice is maintained in relation to the detention of mentally ill clients under the Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Ensuring that least restrictive practices are promoted within individual care.
  • Ensure that the team develops and implements specialist programmes of care which could include individual and group interventions.
