Overview

This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship - the successful applicant will need to have a pre-existing Right to Work in the UK in order to be offered an employment contract.

Do you have a background in teaching, training, or educational support, combined with hands-on experience in your sector? Do you want a flexible role that can work well alongside an existing job, allowing you to supplement your income and manage your own availability?



Location, Salary and Benefits

Location of the Job: UK - Local Centres (candidates will be allocated one or more centres depending on their location; there are many centres across the UK)


Salary and Benefits Package:
Day rate: £220-£250 (for work carried out)
Travel and accommodation expenses reimbursed in addition to the day rate



Additional Information

This is a flexible, occasional role - work is available from two days upwards, depending on availability of hours. Moderators can choose to work as much or as little as they wish. Full training and ongoing support are provided to ensure you feel confident in the role.



About the Roles

Moderators play a vital role in maintaining the quality and integrity of Technical Qualifications (for 14-19-year-olds) and T Level Qualifications (for 16-19-year-olds). These qualifications have been designed in collaboration with employers and providers to ensure learners develop the most up-to-date and industry-relevant technical skills.

Moderator - The Job Role Details

As a Moderator, you will use your sector expertise to support centres and providers, ensuring that assessment and moderation processes are applied fairly, consistently, and in line with quality assurance requirements. This is a flexible role ideal for someone experienced, adaptable, and confident in providing clear feedback and guidance.



Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct and document moderation, quality assurance, and advisory activities with Centres and Providers

  • Provide advice and guidance on moderation and marking of internally assessed and externally moderated/validated assessments

  • Produce clear reports and feedback on quality of marking, evidence collection, issues identified, and examples of best practice

  • Participate in training and standardisation activities to ensure consistency and continuous improvement in moderation

  • Review evidence and support Providers with approval applications

  • Carry out Provider approval visits, follow up on action plan activities, and conduct advisory activities

  • Produce detailed reports and feedback for Providers and internal use



Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications


  • Educational or teaching experience - e.g., work in a teaching, training, or educational support role

  • Proven occupational experience in one of the relevant land-based or agricultural sectors

  • Strong understanding of assessment, quality assurance, and moderation processes

  • Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to Centres and Providers

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • Flexible and proactive, with the ability to work occasional days from two days upwards

  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a small, dedicated team

  • Committed to fairness, consistency, and high standards in assessment

  • Able to travel to allocated local centres across the UK
