Ministry of Defence General Practitioner (MOD GP)

The closing date is 05 January 2026.

Location: Medical Centre, RAF Northolt, Ruislip, Middlesex, HA4 6NG (may also work at Northwood). Full‑time (37 hrs per week). Fixed‑term until 31 October 2026.

About the role

Deliver high‑quality primary and occupational healthcare to military and civilian personnel and their families as part of the Defence Primary Healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide regular primary care sessions (15‑minute appointments) covering all GP curriculum areas: paediatrics, ante‑natal care, mental health, chronic disease management and acute care.
  • Conduct occupational medicals, mandatory examinations and provide appropriate occupational health advice.
  • Deliver primary‑care emergency treatment within the establishment.
  • Attend multi‑disciplinary meetings, participate in unit health committees and report on communicable‑disease management.
  • Supervise and coordinate the management of communicable diseases and related reporting.
  • Represent the Senior Medical Officer on medical practice matters when required.
  • Manage administrative duties, meetings and protected professional‑development time within the team.
Qualifications and experience
  • Full registration with the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and GP Register.
  • Experience in occupational health, military occupational health, aviation medicine and armed‑forces medicine (e.g. underwater, diving).
  • Knowledge of medical IT systems used within the Defence Medical Services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant IT systems.
  • Behaviour competencies: Leadership, Change and Improvement, Communication and Influence, Quality Service Management, Teamworking, Delivering at Pace.
  • Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B (unless a condition prevents vaccination).
