Job description

The post holder will join Camden’s Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Schools. This is a preventative and early intervention service that provides high quality support to children, young people, and families, presenting with mild – moderate mental health struggles. Support to schools includes delivering evidence-based interventions through universal (e.g. whole school approach), targeted (e.g. class or small group intervention) and individual one-to-one therapeutic support. It also includes providing consultation, advice and sign‑posting. Our work endeavours to join with schools in the promotion of a positive ethos and culture surrounding the social, emotional, and mental health of the entire school community.

MHST Highly Specialist Clinicians and Supervisors hold their own clinical caseload and undertake comprehensive clinical assessments and develop formulations to guide treatment plans that are outcome focused, and evidence-based, using appropriate therapeutic modalities. The post also involves holding a Senior Link role with a patch of schools and working jointly with MHST School Practitioners to develop and sustain working relationships with the school community by supporting the Designated Mental Health Leads as well as providing advice, sign‑posting and consultation. To expand the team’s service offer the post holder will take a lead role in service development initiatives, evaluation, develop training programmes and other intervention packages in keeping with service objectives. A key responsibility of this post is providing internal team support through individual and group supervision. The post holder will be required to hold some risk, therefore will complete comprehensive risk assessments and respond appropriately.

This is a community-based post, with most of the work taking place in school settings or other community settings. The post holder must be able to work collaboratively with other members of the team, staff from other teams as well as with our allied partners across education, health, social care and the charity sector.

As a highly specialist and senior member of the team, the role will involve taking up delegated managerial tasks.
