Application sifting is scheduled to take place on week commencing 05/01/26. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, week commencing 19/01/26. Dates are subject to change.
At application stage you will be assessed against the following behaviours: Working Together, Managing a Quality Service, Communicating and Influencing.
When choosing your behaviour examples, use real‑life scenarios that relate to your own experiences. Presenting ideas generated by technology or others may result in your application being rejected.
We hold candidates on an active reserve list for 12 months. Similar lower graded roles may be offered or, if not, the best candidate of lower grade will be considered.
Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and meet the security requirements, including a security check. They must also attend an MGS Security Officer Medical Check.
Nationality requirements: UK nationals only; no other citizenship permitted.
As a result of the UK immigration rules (effective 1 January 2021), the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points‑based system for business‑critical roles. This role has not been assessed as business‑critical and is therefore not open to sponsorship requests. Applicants requiring sponsorship will have their application rejected and any provisional offer withdrawn.
MOD will not consider applicants who have been dismissed for unacceptable behaviours within the last five years or who would have been dismissed for gross misconduct had they continued employment.
Maintaining a good level of physical fitness is required, as the role involves prolonged periods of standing, patrolling large areas, and responding quickly to incidents.
This is a shift working position at 48 hours per week, including breaks. The successful candidate will be expected to work nights, weekends, bank holidays, etc., as stipulated by the shift pattern agreed at the unit depending on site requirements. Shifts are 12 hours, rostered between Sun and Sat. A flexible week may change working days and shifts with no less than 48 hours' notice. Exact shift pattern will be explained in full during the interview.
New starters must complete a mandatory two‑week residential Foundation Course, followed by structured on‑the‑job training. Ongoing professional development is available, including an annual programme of online learning. The dedicated Workforce Development Team supports training needs.
