We are excited to offer an amazing opportunity for the role of Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) to join our vibrant and evolving team.

We are looking for dynamic people who are a Mental Health Practitioner, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.

The team is based at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit and includes the Mental Health Urgent Care hub (MHUCH), Mental Health Response Vehicle (MHRV) and Place of Safety Assessment Unit (PASU) within the Urgent, Emergency and Access Care pathway. The MHUCH hub is a unit set up during COVID to divert patients from accident and emergency for the purposes of triaging and assessing patients within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) who are experiencing mental health crisis. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with band 6 MHPs and Band 3 Health Care Assistants (HCA's). The MHRV is a new service set up in early 2024, it is a Mental Health Ambulance grey in colour with the NHS logo inscribed on the side. It provides on the scene triage and assessment for patients in mental health crisis within LLR. It is also staffed by Band 6 MHPs and Band 3 HCA's, operating between 12:00pm and 00:00am 7 days a week.

Main duties of the job

The team is dynamic and fast moving and requires Practitioners to work autonomously. You must have excellent clinical skills, be able to demonstrate an ability to complete comprehensive mental state examinations, thoroughly assess patient safety and risk, formulate safe and effective risk management plans and document this clearly.

You should have experience of mental health nursing, including crisis care in a variety of settings including community; you will be able work autonomously with awareness of when to seek advice. You will hold a sound working knowledge of common mental health disorders, the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
