Job Summary

Are you a compassionate, dedicated and motivated Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist who holds a current professional registration and always puts people at the heart of everything you do? Are you a professional who enjoys working as part of a 'can do' and forward‑thinking team as well as embracing the challenge of working autonomously? EIP Suffolk are currently offering a 12 month fixed‑term secondment full‑time opportunity for a Band 6 AfC Mental Health Practitioner to join our specialist team in East Suffolk. Previous experience of working with psychosis within a community setting would be advantageous but not essential. If you hold an interest in early intervention in psychosis we look forward to hearing from you.

Main Duties

As a practitioner you will demonstrate a warm, compassionate, needs‑led approach to working with our service users and their families. The role includes multi‑agency working alongside families, local acute care, primary care, social care, education, employment and voluntary services to ensure service users’ needs are best met. You will undertake assessments of individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, develop collaborative care plans, deliver bespoke interventions in line with NICE and manage an assigned community caseload. Clinical and management supervision will be provided, with 1:1 and group sessions.

Responsibilities
  • Act as Lead Professional to an assigned community caseload.
  • Develop collaborative care and support plans with service users and families.
  • Ensure care plans are reviewed by the treating team regularly and include patient voice through routine outcome measures.
  • Deliver timely treatment/support interventions to service users and families/carers.
  • Maintain a National 2‑week access and waiting‑time standard.
  • Engage with duty system rota as assigned.
  • Complete complex assessments, including risk assessment and management plans.
  • Engage with psychologically focused formulation (5 P’s) and deliver brief psychological interventions.
  • Participate in all team/service clinical meetings – weekly MDT, team formulation, morning huddles.
  • Engage in supervision – managerial (monthly), clinical groups (monthly) and reflective practice (monthly).
  • Contribute to EIP Suffolk service developments, quality improvement projects and evaluation.
  • Participate in research projects available across EIP Suffolk, the Trust or national EIP community.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with relevant professional registration.
  • Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor training (NMC registrants) or Practice Educator (AHP & Social Worker registrants).
  • Ongoing professional development working towards degree level (if professional registration is following a diploma level course).
Experience
  • Experience managing a caseload and providing mental health care services to people with mental health needs.
  • Experience completing complex assessments including risk assessment, formulation and management planning.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team delivering person‑centred treatment packages.
Desirable
  • Experience working in the specific area.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of national and local policies and guidelines, e.g. NICE guidelines.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of legal and ethical frameworks including the Mental Health Act.
