A mental health support organization is seeking a Mental Health Support Worker in Braintree (soon to be Chelmsford) to provide emotional support to individuals in crisis. This role involves active listening, collaboration with healthcare teams, and practical referrals. Applicants should be empathetic and resilient, with experience in mental health support. Hours: 2 week rolling rota working 7 hour shifts, 6pm - 1am (24.5 hours on average per week) (Short week - Wednesday, Thursday (14hours) Long week - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (35 hours))
Pro rata salary: £17,199 per year (£24,570 FTE), pro rata salary includes unsocial hours allowance for hours worked 12 midnight to 1am
Base location: Currently Braintree, but will be moving to Chelmsford

The Mental Health Support Worker is a rewarding but at times challenging role, which requires someone who is experienced, empathetic and resilient in supporting people experiencing a mental health crisis. The role requires you to work with clients to provide emotional support through active listening, de‑escalation and distraction techniques. You will act to signpost clients where possible and complete internal referrals for practical support when needed. The position is part of our Mid Essex Sanctuary service which aims to support individuals who are living with long‑term, complex mental health problems who find themselves in crisis.
