A leading healthcare provider is looking for dynamic Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners for a part-time role in Worcester. You will provide 24-hour mental health support to A&E departments and assess individuals with mental health conditions. Job summary

We’re expanding our Mental Health Liaison Service across Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, and are looking for dynamic, compassionate Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners to join our team, filling a part‑time 31.5 hour post.

About the Role

Provide 24‑hour mental health support to A&E departments. Deliver care to individuals of all ages with suspected or diagnosed mental health conditions. Support prisoners transferred from His Majestys Prisons with specialist mental health assessments. Work within a multi‑disciplinary team offering a full spectrum of mental health specialties.

Main responsibilities
  • Maintain high standards of patient care, ensuring individuality and dignity is maintained at all times and promoting independence.
  • Assess and support individuals of any age, completing, accurately documenting and appropriately sharing complex psychosocial assessments including mental state examination, risk assessment and crisis interventions.
  • Liaise with carers, families and professionals.
  • Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Work closely with care coordinators, social workers and all primary health care team members to facilitate safe discharge or transfer of patient care.
  • Offer education and information to patients and carers as appropriate in regard to mental health issues and illness, encouraging empowerment, independence and informed decision making.
Qualifications & experience
  • Registered Mental Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker.
  • A relevant degree or diploma.
  • At least 2 years post‑qualification experience in an appropriate mental health setting.
  • Experience of undertaking regular multi‑disciplinary assessments, mental state and self‑harm assessments, and assessing and managing risk.
  • Supervision of junior staff and students.
  • Good working knowledge of Mental Health Act legislation and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Clinical Governance, Risk Assessment and Adult/Child Protection Legislation and NSFs.
Desirable
  • Experience of assessing people who deliberately self‑harm and those diagnosed with personality disorder.
  • Experience of working in a liaison or crisis and home treatment service.
  • Advanced assessment skills, teaching skills, willingness to train in a variety of areas and new initiatives.
