Job description
Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with members of the multidisciplinary Melanoma Team to provide quality specialist care. The post will involve supporting the cancer pathway at diagnosis and delivering personalised care. A key element of the role is knowledge of immune checkpoint inhibitors, the disease, and a passion to make a difference for our patients and their families.

KeyResponsibilities
  • Develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist melanoma service, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of clinical care.
  • Be named key worker for this cohort of patients; act as lead specialist and demonstrate expertise within the Melanoma service.
  • Provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their carers/relatives and health care professionals.
  • Undertake clinical audits and support research within this specialist area.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines; contribute to service developments with multidisciplinary colleagues, including peer review.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of service users, promote dignity and human rights through person-centred care principles.
  • Line management responsibility for a Band 4 Melanoma Cancer Support Worker.

Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024. It offers two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date has been agreed. Following corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
