A busy medical practice in Birmingham is seeking a Medical Summariser to support a growing patient list of 6500. The role involves coding patient information and supporting administrative tasks within a diverse team. Job description

Medical Summariser required for very busy surgery with a list size of 6500 patients and still growing. Very pro active friendly team, always on hand to support. Long standing members of staff here at the surgery. Recruitment due to increase in workload.

Ideally looking for 5 hours per day Monday - Friday

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the read coding of relevant information intopatients electronic healthcare records on the clinical system, adhering to theorganisations coding policy. In addition, the post-holder will support themulti-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in linewith the needs of the organisation.

Duties can also include, but are not limited to, supporting theadministration and receptionist teams with patient registration, bookingappointments, and processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in atimely manner and in accordance with current policies.

The post-holder will be an integralpart of the general practice team.

About us

Currently one GP Partner with a Practice Manager Partner, 2 salaried GPs and one Locum GP. One FT Paramedic, one Pharmacist, one practice nurse and 2 HCA's.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Medical Summariser in delivering health services. There may be, onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

a.Reviewrecords and accurately produce a summary of the patients medical history

b.AccuratelySNOMED CT code data on the clinical IT system

c.Reviewprogress of summarising, ensuring practice targets are achieved

d.Reviewall clinical letters, ensuring they are processed appropriately in line withextant protocols

e.Fileand store records as required

f.Photocopydocumentation as required

g.Actionall incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner

h.Scanpatient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patientshealthcare records

i.Correctlyinput data into patients healthcare records

j.Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

k.Conductsystem searches as requested

l.Supportall clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested

m.Maintain a clean,tidy, effective working area at all times

n.Bean integral part of the general practice team

p. Be aware of duties and responsibilitiesregarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures onSafeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

q. Undertake all mandatorytraining and induction programmes

r. Contribute to andembrace the spectrum of clinical governance

s.Attenda formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once aperformance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on aregular basis so that new objectives can be agreed
