Job description
Role Overview

Provide specialised, comprehensive and confidential patient centred clinical administration and secretarial service to the Surgical Services team in accordance with Departmental, Trust and National standards, policies and procedures. Act as a source of advice and guidance regarding the specialism for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for booking of TWW/Cancer appointments and surgery for Head and Neck Consultants.
  • Ensure clinical documentation is up-to-date, orderly and available for decision-making; promptly transcribe, manipulate and distribute appropriate documents.
  • Effectively organise patients under the consultant and his/her team in accordance with Local and National policy and targets, collaborating with booking centre, patient access team, outpatient access team, general managers, theatre, diagnostic and ward teams to maintain seamless elective care pathway.
  • Maintain an efficient office management system/procedures to enable the consultant and his/her team to optimise patient care services: manage schedules and leave arrangements, arrange meetings/events, compose and transcribe minutes, prepare correspondence and reports, manage office equipment and stationery, track patients through pathway.
  • Support team members: demonstrate and explain departmental practices, undertake training and development, provide cross-cover and day to day supervision.
  • Provide oversight to the Support Secretaries for associated administrative activities, such as patient bookings, appropriate documentation and typing, with local training.
