A healthcare provider in York is seeking a Medical Secretary to provide secretarial support to Gastroenterology Consultants. The candidate will manage complex diary schedules, handle patient queries, and maintain communication with various stakeholders. An ideal applicant should have exceptional communication skills and relevant secretarial experience, along with proficient typing skills, especially in digital dictation. This full-time role offers a salary range of £27,485 to £30,162 per annum with opportunities for flexible hours.

We are looking for a highly motivated and well‑organised individual to join the Gastroenterology Team at York Hospital. This varied secretarial role will support Gastroenterology Consultants with communication, administrative and secretarial tasks, and will also provide key support to our patients by assisting with their queries and concerns, and engaging with the wider clinical team and other stakeholders.
Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at York Hospital. Remote interviews will not be available.

Typing of clinics and general correspondence, complex diary management and provision of patient data. Dealing with correspondence from patients, GPs and other sources, including the scheduling of appointments, to ensure referral to treatment targets are met.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, relevant secretarial/administrative experience, and proficient typing skills, particularly in audiotyping and digital dictation. Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous.
To be successful in the post you must be well‑organised, able to prioritise your workload in a fast‑paced environment, and work independently to meet strict deadlines. We require an efficient and resilient team player who upholds the Trust Values, has a flexible approach to work, and a willingness to learn and meet the challenges of a fast‑paced service.
