Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our practice team ensuring that the reception area runs smoothly and efficiently.

Main duties of the job

Main durties will include but not limited to:

  • All reception duties including answering the phones and dealing with patients face to face.
  • Management of medical records.
  • Liase with hospitals and outside agencies where applicable.
  • Dealing with repeat prescription requests.
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web desired but not essential, full training will be given.
About us

Hetton Group Practice is a busy practice with approx 11800 patients. Our team consists of 5 GP Partners, and a full compliment of nursing and administration staff. We are a training practice with GP Registrar rotations on a six monthly basis and medical students.

Job responsibilities

To support the team to ensure an effective, efficient and caring service is provided to all of our patients. Duties to include:

  • Processing of telephone and e-consults for appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealingwith the callers request appropriately.
  • Signposting patients to best meet their needs.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to, requests frompatients, team members and external agencies.
  • Clinical coding data on EMIS Web. Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary.
  • Managing all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
  • Providing administrative support to all of the team as required.
  • Scanning documents into patients records.
  • Processing of repeat prescription requests.
  • Observing Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Any other erasonable duties requested by management.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Good standard of general education
  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience
  • Experience of admin/reception work.
  • Experience of working with the general public.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Polite and clear telephone manner.
