Job description

A medical receptionist is the primary representative of our GP Practice. A medical receptionist will need to be capable of handling stressful situations at any given time in order to serve the patients.>

We require someone with experience who can join our team and bring with them the above skills that will enhance the care we provide to our patients. Our patients are our forefront and we them to have a positive experience when they access health care provided by the surgery.

We are looking for a full-time or part-time team member to meet the needs of our practice. Our shift patterns are usually as follows for full-time 2 days, 7:30-15:30, 2 days 11:00-19:00 and 1 day 9:00- 17:00 this can be discussed if successful at the interview.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
  • Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
  • Signpost patients to the correct service
  • Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
  • Code data on the clinical IT system
  • Photocopy documentation as required
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
  • Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary
  • Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
  • Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
  • Carry out system searches as requested
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
  • Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
  • Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
About us

The practice is a 3 GP Partner practice with a number of salaried GP's with 1 Health Care Assistant and 1 Practice Nurse.
